Job Shadow + Discovery Days

Job Shadow and Discovery Day (formerly known as Site Visit) programs allow you to connect with ASU students by showcasing your organization and the career paths within your industry. Whether hosting a half-day job shadow or a group site visit, you can build your talent pipeline while helping students explore your workplace firsthand.

Details: Job Shadow

  • Job Shadowing is where students get to “shadow” an employee at a company/organization to learn more about their career field and see what a “day-in-the-life” is truly like at their workplace.
  • Example activities that could occur during a shadowing experience:
    • Introduction of host organization (mission, values, goals, history, etc.)
    • Office/Site tour
    • Sit-in on meetings or client calls
    • 1-1/group Q&A sessions with employees
    • Observations of daily tasks/activities
    • Lunch/casual networking
    • Career/opening opportunities discussion

Details: Discovery Days

  • Typically two to three hours.
  • Presentation about the organization and why a student would want to work there.
  • Tour of the facility (Explanation of why the facility is set up the way it is, i.e. security, workspace, meeting rooms, etc.)
  • Lunch or snacks for the students.
  • Hear from a leader or a panel from your organization.
  • Networking opportunity.
